Faith Over Fear — Walking Boldly in Uncertain Times
Fear is one of the oldest tricks of the enemy. It shows up in the unknown, in the middle of a diagnosis, in financial strain, or when we’re standing at the edge of change. Fear thrives in uncertainty. It whispers, “What if you fail? What if God doesn’t come through? What if you’re not enough?”
Faith, however, tells a different story. Faith does not pretend the struggle isn’t real. Faith does not ignore pain, problems, or possibilities of loss. Instead, faith acknowledges reality while declaring that God is bigger than anything we face. It anchors us in the truth of who He is, not in what we see around us.
Psalm 56:3 reminds us, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Notice it doesn’t say, “If I am afraid,” but “when.” Fear will come. It’s part of being human. But fear does not get the final say—faith does.
Fear says: “You can’t.”
Faith says: “With God, you can.”
Fear says: “You’re alone.”
Faith says: “God is with you always.”
When we choose faith over fear, we aren’t denying the storm—we’re deciding who we’ll trust in the storm. Think back to the disciples in the boat, panicking as the wind roared and waves crashed. Jesus, asleep in perfect peace, woke up and simply said, “Peace, be still.” The storm obeyed. The storm always bows to the Savior.
So, what does it look like to walk boldly in uncertain times? It looks like remembering God’s faithfulness in the past, declaring His promises in the present, and trusting His plan for the future. If He carried you yesterday, He will carry you today.
